February and March Launches Peer-to-Peer Read-Alouds at Providencia & Disney Elementary Schools

In February, during the Black History Month launch of Destiny's Peer-to-Peer reading program, we reached 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students with meaningful representation and community connection. Responses of the elementary students were so impactful and showed how powerful it is for young students to see themselves, and diverse characters reflected both in literature and in high school student leaders. On the success of February's launch, we ran a second round of the program in March for Women's History Month with four high school readers reaching 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms. We are currently scheduling readers for April and May of this year and are excited to continue working with principals and student groups to grow this incredible program.
